When karma is a bitch,

Against his better judgement, 19 year old Joel Kimball allows his three friends to talk him into helping them steal sandwiches from a local store.

This one bad decision creates an unstoppable karmic chain of events, killing two people and eventually sweeping Joel off his feet and into a hospital bed.

It's a long and depressing road to recovery until he meets 18 year old Amelia.

But their relationship is strained by Joel's incapacity, his mother's unacceptance of Amelia, and their inability to have a 'normal' relationship.

Amelia worries that when Joel eventually recovers, he won't need her in his life anymore.

Joel worries that his long recovery time will prove too much for Amelia and she'll get bored and leave him.
